Mr. Ravi Kailas is the founder and Chairman of the London-based Mytrah Group, whose mission is to deliver sustainable and unsubsidized renewable energy worldwide. An entrepreneur with 25 years of experience, he has built successful companies across diverse sectors including telecom, software, franchising, digital advertising, financial options and infrastructure.
His current venture, Mytrah Energy, has 2,000 MW of operational and under construction power capacity spread across nearly 40 wind and solar farms in nine states of India. Mytrah is uniquely organised with in-house capabilities in technology, data analytics, atmospheric sciences, EPC, project development and asset management.
Beyond building businesses, Mr. Kailas is passionate about developing a culture of social advocacy among entrepreneurs. He is currently working on a book project that encourages entrepreneurs to think about their role as advocators, capable of tackling issues ranging from climate change to income inequality in a rapidly changing world.
Mr. Kailas divides his time between London, Hyderabad and San Francisco which provides him a uniquely global perspective. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Osmania University and a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University.
Mr. Vikram Kailas serves as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mytrah Energy (India) Pvt. Ltd. His strong entrepreneurial streak, overarching strategies, and relentless determination helps the company to ace in the field of wind & solar energy. He has worked in the Energy & Utilities investment banking group at Credit Suisse in New York, where he was involved in a number of renewable energy transactions, including a US$ 6 bn exit financing for Calpine and a US$ 300 mn loan for First Energy.
Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Mr. Kailas worked for Deloitte Consulting in India. He has a Bachelor in Engineering degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and Master of Business Administration degree from Yale School of Management
Mr. Bob Smith has 25 years experience in the energy sector, including the last 8 in renewables, including in Mytrah Till 2019. He was previously Chief Development Officer at BP Solar, building on 15 years in international oil & gas operations with BP.
Mr. Smith joined Mytrah in 2013 after 4 years as CEO of a renewable energy technology start-up. He is a Chartered Engineer and has Masters Degrees in Engineering from Cambridge University and Management from the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University.
Mr. Rohit Phansalkar is the Chairman and CEO of RKP Capital, Inc., a US-based merchant banking boutique firm. He was previously the Chairman and CEO of Osicom Technologies, an optical networking company. He was the Co-founder, Vice Chairman and CEO of Newbridge Capital, a private equity firm investing in India, and formerly the Head of Energy Finance Group at Oppenheimer & Co. He was the co-head of the Energy Finance Group at Shearson American Express, Managing Director of Bear Stearns and Managing Director at Oppenheimer & Co. He was also the Founding Chairman of The India Fund.
He has a bachelor's degree in Science from Michigan Technological University and a master's degree from the Graduate School of Business, Harvard University, USA.
Mr. Phansalkar is a member of the Audit and Nomination committees and is the chair of the Remuneration committee.
Mr. Santosh Nayar is an Independent Director of Mytrah Energy (India) Private Limited. He was the Chairman & Managing Director of India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL), a wholly-owned Government of India Enterprise with an asset size of ~USD 6.5 Bn, from December 2013 till June 2017. Immediately, prior to joining IIFCL, he was the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of IFCI Limited and before that he was Deputy Managing Director & Group Executive (Large Corporate Banking and Project Finance Group) in State Bank of India. Mr. Nayar also held the position of Chairman on the Board of Governors of Management Development Institute (MDI).
Mr. Nayar possesses rich working experience of around 40 years in project finance and banking, including international & investment banking, and life insurance Industry. He holds B.Com. (Hons.), CAIIB.

Mr. Vivek Kailas has extensive experience in corporate banking and has done key transactions across sectors - infrastructure / pharmaceutical / diamonds / agriculture / edible oil. Prior to joining Mytrah, he has worked with ING Vysya Bank, where he covered Indian and international markets. He was in ING's selective leadership and fast track programs.
He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications from Osmania University and has an MBA from IIIT.
Mr. Girish Gelli has an MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines and has two decades of business and entrepreneurial experience across a number of industries spanning Insurance, Banking, Business Process Outsourcing, IT Services, Private Equity Investments and Solar Power. He was an Executive Council Member for three years on the State Council of the CII - The Confederation of Indian Industry (AP). Mr Gelli was the founder of a BPO services firm that catered to the financial services industry and subsequently a solar firm that owns and operates solar power projects in India, one of the projects set up by that firm had received an award from the Ministry (MNRE) for achieving the best performance in the country amongst all the projects under the policy. He initiated the Solar Business division at Mytrah in the year 2015 and now oversees the solar business, more particularly the solar strategy, engineering, procurement and execution of solar projects.
Mr. R. Somasundaram is the Head of Strategic Initiatives at Mytrah Energy where he has firm wide oversight for several areas including Corporate Communications, Learning & Development, Campus Relations, and the Mytrah grants program. Somasundaram has functional experience in business development, finance and strategy across the financial services, insurance, automotive and consumer goods sectors. He has worked with organizations like Credit Suisse, General Motors, Luxottica and HSBC, primarily out of India and USA, on assignments for businesses / clients in Asia, North and South America, and Europe.
Mr. Somasundaram has an MBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a BE degree from Jadavpur University.
